On 30 October 2025, Mahawannammaduwa Vidyalaya, Galkulama organized a Reading Camp Programme for students from Grades 1 to 11 as part of its literacy development initiatives. The programme aimed to foster reading habits, enhance language skills, and inspire a lifelong love for books among students.
The camp was facilitated by library professionals, including Librarian Mr. Asoka Sirwardana, Assistant Librarians Mrs. Hansamali Wickramasooriya and Ms. Kaushalya Wijerathne, who guided students through engaging activities such as storytelling sessions, guided reading exercises, creative literacy games, and group reading tasks. These activities encouraged active participation, boosted confidence, and developed students’ comprehension and vocabulary.
The Reading Camp was warmly received by students and teachers alike, and it contributed positively to cultivating a strong reading culture within the school.
