An awareness session on the Effective Use of Library Resources and E-Resources was conducted for students of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management Programme, Faculty of Management Studies, on 11 September 2026 at the Main Library, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.
The session was held from 11.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and focused on enhancing the research skills of PhD students by introducing them to the library’s print and electronic resources and demonstrating effective ways of accessing and using scholarly information for academic and research purposes.
The session was conducted by Mrs. W.P.T. Dilrukshi, Senior Assistant Librarian, and Ms. M.G.H.K. Wijerathne, Assistant Librarian, as resource persons. The session provided an overview of the library resources and services available to postgraduate researchers, with particular attention to electronic databases, scholarly information resources, online journals, e-books, and other digital research resources.
The resource persons also highlighted effective information-searching strategies, appropriate use of keywords, identifying relevant scholarly sources, and accessing reliable academic information. Participants were guided on how to make effective use of the library’s electronic resources to support literature reviews, academic writing, research projects, and evidence-based decision-making. The programme provided an opportunity for PhD students to strengthen their awareness and practical knowledge of the resources and services available through the university library. The session also encouraged participants to make greater use of library resources as an essential component of their ongoing research and academic activities
